The Sowers

This is a poem that I thought would be short, but turned out being quite lengthy. For a friend through the years.

There is a monstrous smoke-belching pit,

So big that it’s eating the world.

It’s slowly pulling all people in

All to the depths of the earth.

This pit has been pulling for eons of years

E’er since the world began

And it will keep pulling, pulling so hard,

Until it can unleash its plan.

People all over are getting drawn in,

But what’s crazy, they don’t seem to care!

They go about their daily routines,

Unaware that they’re caught in a snare

Some people notice and think they’ve gone out,

Clinging to unstable cliffs

Eventually, these, though they think they are saved,

Will fall fast and hard to the depths

The pain at the bottom, the fire within,

Is craft by a Dragon of Hell

His anger towards man and towards God’s great big plan

Has caused it to burn all it’s felled

But there is hope, small lights shine all over

The dreaded pit, as soon you’ll see:

God’s loved extended has saved those thought ended

Those all thought too burned to see

These people of God, these glimmers of hope

All go on their own separate ways,

Even though all are one body together,

They serve God the way that he says:

“Go to the sick,” said Adonai, “to all the falling, the felled,

None are too far or too burned!

Indeed, the most lost can be a Godchild,

Go forth and teach what you’ve learned.”

So they went when he told, at least, did the bold

The ones who had none they could lose

Near or far they pulled out from that tyrannous pit

Ones who had seen the good News

While some stayed at home, these Godbassadors few,

They used all they could to bring in

All the falling, the felled, the broken, the lost,

And turned them away from their sin

The beauty of this, of these sowers of grain,

Is that they once were sucked in as well!

But a God who made all gives courage to call

On His name so that they might save all the felled.

And one of these days, whether sooner or later,

God will come down and judge all!

Those who trust in his name and have lamb-cast their shame,

Will come live with God in his halls!

But The Dragon, the wyrm, the world eater mad,

And all who on his name they call,

Yes, they will forever be burned by Godfire,

For our God is greatest of all!
