Panic rushed over me. It was getting hard to stay still, but I had to…I just had to stay still. I could hear several muffled voices, but it wasn’t clear enough to hear what they were saying. I started to think of a way out of this cramped position I was in without making any noise. I stretched out my leg to get into a comfortable place, but I kicked a small jar of some green substance on the floor. I froze not only startled by the gross green liquid on my new shoes but because everything went silent. I grabbed my pocket watch and stuffed it in my hoodie pocket. I started breathing heavily. I saw feet moving closer under the crack of the door. “You have to be ready for anything Danielle, anything,” I repeated those words in my head thinking about the last two hours and how much my life had changed. I was on a new adventure, a new life, a new home? Truthfully I had no idea what was coming, but I wasn’t gonna let that stop me from doing this, whatever “this” was. Just as I had calmed myself down I heard a wiggle at the doorknob, then it was opened.
