So this poem probably doesn’t make much sense. I wrote for a story but ended up not using it. It’s rather cryptic and hints at a much larger story which doesn’t get explained. Make of it what you will.
Oh, hear the lonely wolf’s cry
It rises up to the starless sky
She is cursing the one who stalks the night
For her young have all been put to flight
To escape what has been unleashed
Come, give her comfort
But who will comfort a beast?
She it was who slayed our kin
And reveled in her shameless sin
She it was who tortured her prey
She it is who shall never see another day
The end of her time has been reached
Come, give her comfort
But who will comfort a beast?
They set a monster on her trail
Which all her kind it did assail
It tore from her what she loved best
And left her broken with an empty nest
With each day her pain shall increase
Come, give her comfort
But who will comfort a beast?
Tonight, is her last and she is alone
Driven from her empty home
None shall see the great killer
Cold beside the ice river
Soon all her pain shall cease
Come, give her comfort
But it’s too late for the beast.
This is a wonderful work! It made me really want to read the story behind it!
