In Praise of a Writer

Hey everyone! Miss Emma, long a contributor to this esteemed blog, had the wonderful idea that we could do a sort of White Elephant poem exchange. Through means too complicated for mortals to grasp, Falang, long a behind-the-scenes wizard of the blog, randomly gave us our poem subjects. This is my poem, which is for one of the best people this or any other blog has seen. Enjoy, and if you think you know who it’s about, comment below!

First the Thing comes to her mind, a thought, a word, a laugh,
then she sifts through all intents and throws out all the chaff.
She then throws it in the flames of what she knows is right.
She shines the Thing, the thought, the laugh, till, gleaming with her light
she raises up this Thing this thought before her God and King,
(if the journey that this piece of her has took left anything).
Then, and only then is it released, fluttering, shining, kind,
loving, building up, intelligent, good, no lovelier Thing you’ll find.
Opposed to me, who thinks a Thing, then tongue-beast throws it out
my mouth, my thoughts, untruths – all Things within, without.
She’s tamed her tongue, her beauteous steed, with thoughts and laughs that glow,
and though I may get more to say, her words are wiser slow.
